Ciao a tutti! I finally started my journey with Italian! As I'm getting more familiar with the language, I would like to share with you the resources I use as a beginner : Andiiiiaaaamo !
1) Italian Language and Culture: Beginner (2023-2024) on Coursera
This free entry level course can be found on the learning platform "Coursera". It provides all the foundation for grammar and pronunciation. It also enables to build vocabulary of common Italian words and expressions necessary to communicate about everyday situations. In addition to learning the four basic skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing), one can learn how to describe people, events and situations, both in the present and the past.
2) Linguno
As usual, I'm recommending linguno to practice conjugation in a very ludic way. Practice always help becoming more and more comfortable.
3) Grammatica in contesto. Strutture e temi di italiano per stranieri con soluzioni
Grammar is essential to be comfortable when building sentences and structuring your thoughts! Also, I always recommend to study your target language in your target language. In this particular case, I would then recommend to study Italian in Italian! Here is a very good book of grammar for foreigners in italian :
4) Practice with a personal teacher and native speakers
Finding a good tutor and language partners definitely are helping me with my journey with italian ! You can easily find one on different apps and platforms (I've described them in my article: "Language Learning with a Full Time Job"). I've used italki and hellotalk and I've found a great tutor (grazie Marco !) and good language partners.
5) Learn with film and series
Last but not least, my favorite way to get accustomed to the musicality and pronunciation of a language is always through films and series! Here are some shows I've watched in Italian so far:
